Sugar Man
If you haven't heard of Rodriguez, prepare to be amazed.
Sixto Rodriguez made music during the 70s but was never heard of in the U.S. If you were to ask anyone at that time if they knew a musician by that name, they'd say no. But Rodriguez wasn't lost to another part of the world - South Africa. Unbeknownst to him, his music inspired many people there; in fact he was a legend, an icon, as his songs, many speaking of real issues, related to them. Apartheid was happening and Rodriguez inspired a new way of thinking about the government; he inspired revolution. The amazing documentary, Searching for Sugarman chronicles his musical journey and his humble way of living. He never made money from his songs and only recently did he actually give a concert in South Africa to loads of die-hard fans. His story is truly inspiring and heartwarming.
